Frequently Asked Questions
About lessons
How long does it take to learn kitesurfing? It’s like driving school: after the course you won’t be a racer right away, but you will understand how to control the kite and how to move safely on the water. On average, after 10 hours of lessons people start riding. Those who pick it up faster can already turn around and return to the starting point by the end of the course — that’s the main goal of beginner training.
What’s the minimum age? From 9 years old. We have a separate instructor with a lot of experience teaching kids — we recommend booking ahead.
Is kitesurfing dangerous for a beginner? Kitesurfing is safe with the right instruction. Malibu is a spot with shallow water and minimal traffic — important for beginners: no boats and no crowds around. Before going out, the instructor explains safety technique and the release system. The main risk is riding alone without preparation — which is why we don’t rent gear to anyone who can’t ride confidently.
Do I need to book in advance? Yes, especially for the high season (January–March). Instructors and equipment can be busy — early booking is strongly recommended.
What languages are the lessons in? Always in Russian and English. In high season we have instructors teaching in Spanish, French and other languages — best to confirm before your trip.
What should I bring to lessons? Equipment — kite, bar, board, harness — is included. Bring: swimwear, a cap or hat, sunglasses with a strap and float, your own lycra (if you have one — it’s more comfortable). SPF 50+ sunscreen is available at the station, but you can bring your own.
How does a typical day at the station work? The instructor agrees the lesson time with you individually depending on your level and the weather. Beginners train in the morning while the wind is soft; advanced riders go out in the afternoon when the wind is steady. Periodically, in the evening we review the day’s footage with students.
Do you organise transfer from the hotel to the spot? Yes, when you book lessons we arrange transfer from any hotel in Mui Ne.
About equipment
Should I bring my own kite? Not necessary — the station has a full Airush fleet in all sizes from 5 to 14 m² and models for different styles. If you have your own gear, you can bring it and store it at the station.
Can I store my own equipment at the station if I don’t live on the spot? Yes, there are three guest storage rooms at the station. Prices on the station services page.
About visa and entry
Do I need a visa for Vietnam? Most nationalities get 45 days visa-free. For others — check the official Vietnamese immigration website or your embassy.
Where can I buy a flight to Vietnam? Aviasales, Skyscanner or via our partners — Extremelab and Revo Travel. Group packages via partners often come out cheaper than booking flight plus hotel separately.
About money
How much money should I bring? From $200 a week for basic expenses: food and a motorbike cost from $10–15 a day. Lessons and rental are separate.
Which currency should I bring? Dollars or euros — exchangeable everywhere. There’s no point bringing Vietnamese dong with you.
Do you accept cards? Yes, payment via online systems. There’s no card terminal at the station. There are plenty of ATMs in Mui Ne.
About life in Mui Ne
Is there food at the station? Yes, the restaurant and bar are running. You can eat properly all day without leaving the spot.
What to do if someone in the family doesn’t ride? There are two pools on the grounds — kids’ and adults’. Plus loungers, bar and restaurant. And when there’s no wind, we ride around the region on motorbikes and show our guests the area.
Do I need a scooter? Essential. Mui Ne is 20 km along the coast — without a bike it’s inconvenient. Rental from $6 a day. You need a category A licence to ride.
Is there Wi-Fi at the station? Yes, high-speed Wi-Fi from Blue Shell Hotel across the entire beach.
Do you organise excursions? Yes, we show the region: the Red Canyon, the white dunes, the Fairy Stream, waterfalls. Message us — we’ll tell you what’s worth doing during your trip.
Do I need insurance? Sports insurance is mandatory — it covers injuries during lessons and costs only marginally more than regular travel insurance. You can get it from our partners Extremelab or any insurance company.
Are there any dangerous animals? We haven’t seen snakes or crocodiles in the tourist areas. What you actually get: sand fleas (repellent or coconut oil helps), mosquitoes, jellyfish in season. If there are jellyfish — just wear a long-sleeved lycra.
