Kite school in Mui Ne
Kite school in Mui Ne — KITENAM
KITENAM has been operating on the Malibu spot since 2015. Hundreds of students have come through the school — from complete beginners to riders who fly out specifically to work on wave riding and big air with pro riders.
Why learn here
Choosing a school is mostly choosing a spot. Malibu is a long open beach, around 5 km, with shallow water and almost no traffic on the riding area. No tourists in the water, no boats, no random people drifting through the lesson zone. The student works one-on-one with the instructor in comfortable conditions — critical for safety and for how fast you progress.
Shallow water is the single biggest advantage for a beginner. You can stand up, catch your breath, fix a mistake. No fear of depth or of breaking waves near the shore. That’s exactly what you need at the start.
Beginner course
The standard beginner course is 10 hours. Inside it you cover the full cycle:
- Theory — how a kite works, the wind window, safety, signals
- Kite control — flying the kite on the beach and in the water
- Body drag — moving through the water without a board, two-handed kite control
- Water start — getting up on the board, the first metres of riding
- Going upwind — holding a course and coming back to your launch point
By the end of the course you ride independently. Not stylish yet — but you ride confidently, hold upwind and come back to where you started. That’s the goal of beginner training.
All gear is included in the price.

Lessons in English and Russian. Other languages available on request during the season.
Minimum age — 9 years.
Video debrief
In the evenings we regularly sit down with students and go through the footage we shot during the day. It speeds up progress a lot — you see your mistakes with your own eyes instead of just feeling them.
Advanced coaching
For riders who already kite — sessions with pro riders in three directions:
- Wave riding — working in waves on Airush One and Ultra
- Freestyle — tricks and rotations
- Big air — high jumps
Malibu is ideal for this: waves up to 3.5 metres breaking about 100 metres offshore, with clean flat water between sets. People love jumping here — high and safe.

What’s next after the course
After the beginner course most students rent gear and ride on their own. The next steps are locking in solid upwind, then jumps. The instructor will lay out a concrete plan for your level.
If you want to keep learning, you book additional hours or a session with a pro rider in a specific direction.
About certificates
Our instructors are professionally trained. Some of our instructors hold IKO certification, but we don’t treat it as a quality marker — not for instructors and not for students. A rider’s level shows on the water, not on paper.
