How to get to Mui Ne

How to get to Mui Ne

Mui Ne sits between two airports in southern Vietnam — Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Cam Ranh (CXR, the Nha Trang airport). Most guests fly into Ho Chi Minh City: it’s a major international hub with direct flights from many cities worldwide. From there it’s about 200 km to Mui Ne, with several ways to make the trip — from a direct transfer to a bus.

From Ho Chi Minh City

Transfer — the easiest option if you have a lot of gear or just don’t want to deal with anything after a long flight. Door-to-door to your hotel, around 3 hours on the highway. About $60–70. We arrange transfers for station guests.

Sleeper bus from the airport — a comfortable middle option. Seats lie back, are wide, with massage. Travel time matches a private transfer, costs around $20. Downside: they run infrequently, so book ahead.

Taxi — as convenient as a private transfer, straight to your hotel. 1.5–2× the price of a transfer, but you can grab one on the spot without booking.

Bus — the budget option. Take a taxi to the Pham Ngu Lao district (no more than $10) — that’s where the bus companies cluster. Best operators: Futa Bus, Nam Hai, Hanh Cafe. Ticket to Mui Ne about $10.

Important when choosing a bus: take the sleeper bus (with lie-flat berths), not a regular seated one. Even better — the sleeper limousine: maximum comfort, more personal space. After a long flight, that makes a huge difference. Note that buses don’t run at night — daytime departures only.

Train — the slowest and least popular option, more for the experience. There’s no station in Mui Ne itself; the nearest is 20–30 km away, then another taxi from there. Worth choosing only if you want to ride the Vietnamese railway for its own sake.

From Cam Ranh (Nha Trang)

Getting from Cam Ranh to Mui Ne on your own is essentially impossible — the infrastructure isn’t there. The only sensible option is a transfer. Prices are similar, around $60–70, but it takes 1–1.5 hours longer than from Ho Chi Minh City.
